1. Scope
This policy explains how Synastry handles information in the web application hosted at https://carat.blue. Synastry is intended only for adults age 18 or older.
2. Information you provide
- Account: email address and a one-way password hash.
- Profile: display name, sex, connection preferences, biography, current city/region, and optional photo.
- Birth details: birth date, local time, birthplace, coordinates, and time zone used to calculate a natal chart.
- Activity: matches, saved profiles, message requests, messages, blocks, reports, filter choices, and account timestamps.
3. How information is used
Information is used to authenticate your account, calculate charts and compatibility, show relevant connections, manage consent-based message requests and conversations, process safety actions, maintain the service, and prevent abuse. Synastry does not use third-party advertising pixels and does not sell personal information.
4. What other members see
Eligible matched members can see your display name, age, sex, general location, biography, photo, big-three placements, natal chart, and compatibility reading. They do not see your email address, password, exact birth date/time/place fields, current coordinates, blocks, or reports.
5. Service providers and network requests
Cloudflare carries public web traffic and may process standard network metadata such as IP address and user agent. Open-Meteo receives city search terms from the Synastry server to return location and time-zone suggestions. Fonts and core assets are served directly by Synastry.
6. Storage and security
Application data and messages are stored on the service host; profile photos are stored as re-encoded WebP files with randomized names. Transport uses HTTPS. Administrative and technical safeguards reduce risk, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
7. Retention and deletion
Data remains while your account is active. Deleting your account from Profile settings removes the account, profile, photos, message requests, messages, compatibility records, connection records, blocks, and reports from the active application database. Infrastructure backups, if present, may retain deleted data until their normal rotation completes.
8. Your controls
You may review and edit your profile, remove your photo, change account credentials, block or report a member, and permanently delete your account from Profile settings.
9. Children
Synastry does not permit users under 18. If you believe a minor has created a profile, report that profile immediately so it can be reviewed and restricted.
10. Changes
Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, when appropriate, by providing an in-product notice.
